Hon’ble Justice Shri Dilip Raosaheb Deshmukh 

Chairman, Company Law Board, New Delhi

 

 

 

           

            Justice Deshmukh took over charge as Chairman, Company Law Board on 27^th November, 2009.

 

            Justice Deshmukh belongs to the illustrious family of Late Barrister Shri Yadaorao Deshmukh (Grandfather), Late Barrister Shri Wamanrao Deshmukh (Uncle) and Late Shri Raosaheb Deshmukh (Father), Advocate of Raipur (Chhattisgarh).

 

            Justice Deshmukh holds a Degree of Post Graduation in Commerce with Company Law as a subject with a Gold Medal from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur in the year 1969 and a Degree in Master of Law with highest marks secured from the Jiwajee University, Gwalior in the year 1982.

 

            Justice Deshmukh held the office of the Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh with effect from 5^th May, 2005 till 5^th September, 2009.  During this period he also worked as Company Judge and also dealt with requests under sub-section (4) or sub-section (5) or sub-section (6) of Section 11 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

 

            In the past Justice Deshmukh has also worked as Legal Advisor to His Excellency the Governor of Chhattisgarh from June, 2001 to September, 2004 and as Chairman of the Judicial Officers Training Institute, High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur for two years.  He has an excellent track record as a Judge and Unblemished Judicial Service in the State Judicial Service of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh with effect from 5^th April, 1970 till 4^th May, 2005.

 

            During his tenure as a Judge he had the opportunity of attending the International Conference of the Rotarians at Rome in 1979; The International Colloquium on Arbitration and Conciliation at New Delhi in 1999; The National Conference for High Court Judges on Right to Food at New Delhi in 2005; The International Conference of Jurists on Public Private Partnership in Promoting Rule of Law and Human Rights at New Delhi in December, 2008.  

 

            He also submitted a Paper on Ethics in Medical Profession at the 2^nd National Medicolegal Conference organised by the Indian Medical Association, Pune on October 07, 2007 and represented the High Court of Chhattisgarh in Conferences on Various Subjects like Intellectual Property Rights, Timely Dispensation of Justice and Judicial Training at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) from 2005 to 2009.

 

            Areas of Interest of Justice Deshmukh are Sports, Music and Travel.  He has widely travelled to U.S.A., U.K., Acapulco (Mexico), Singapore, Germany, Geneva, Italy, Amsterdam and France.
